The XpressMusic name shouts its true colors, the Nokia 5310 is a music platform designed to compete with Sony’s popular Walkman phones. A 2 inch display dominates the phones front panel. It is elegantly imbedded in the phones body making it an integral part of the phone. Images are crisp and bright with the screens 16.7 million colors. Viewing photos or videos was a fresh experience as the phones display showed amazingly clear images.
Not to be outdone are the phones superb speakers. These provided a good background for viewing videos and were excellent for listening to your favorite music tracks. Shuffling through your favorite music track was easy. Toggling your music quality was great with the 5310’s music options. Built to offer the best in listening experience, phone supports a wide variety of music formats. The phones 4 gig memory card option allows you to store huge amounts of videos and music tracks for hours of listening and viewing pleasure. Synchronizing multimedia files and transferring them from PC to your phone is quick and easy.
The Nokia 5310 casts a small shadow with its slim figure. The phone however should not be taken lightly because it boasts of some advance features as well. Phone comes with tri-band network support for greater flexibility and use with networks worldwide. Bluetooth and USB 2.0 give additional options for easy synchronization of files and music tracks with other phones or your PC.
The Nokia 5310 is not merely a music phone. It has and can do everything you can expect from a non music phone. The camera is a respectable 2 Megapixel shooter. It can take decent pictures in bright settings but shooting in dark environment is another story. Camera Flash is not included in the package which is a shame cause the pictures could benefit greatly from this feature. The display gives a good job of rendering captured images which is also good for phones in its range.
Though the Nokia 5310 lacks the 3G option it more than makes up with its fast EDGE capability. Web browsing is excellent with the built in Opera mini browser which makes viewing websites smooth. The bright display is big enough for web site surfing and scrolling through the page is quick and easy with the built in browser.
Accessories included with the package were more than adequate. The phone comes equipped with an excellent headset that makes listening experience an enjoyable one. A 3.5mm port for headsets is standard which makes it compatible for aftermarket walkman headsets. External phone memory comes with a 1 Gig memory card which is twice as large compared to what other phone makers are offering right now. External storage could be expanded with large capacity memory cards but the 1 gig card is more than enough for most.
The Nokia 5310 is a great music phone with an even better price. It is comparatively cheaper to other music phones and delivers both in phone functionality and music experience. For people looking for a music phone that is unique and wants to make a statement with other music phone users, the Nokia 5310 has the music you’ve been waiting to hear.

Nokia E71x
Nokia recently introduced the E71x, a slim QWERTY phone in its smartphone line up. The phone is basically the same with the Nokia E71. The main difference being the x series has an upgraded operating system and new features to boot.
For business users who are searching for a great looking smartphone packed with loads of multimedia features the Nokia E71x is one phone that demands a serious look. Technical improvements include the Symbian S60 Feature Pack 2. The E71x does not feature a touchscreen interface but navigation through the various menus and applications is easy with simple taps of a button.
Like the Nokia E71 the x series comes in a slim and light design. Phone color is an unpretentious black and overall phone quality is solid with metal inserts for a sturdier feel. A business like interface is present with the x series. Options like switching from business mode to a more relaxed interface are not available for this model.
The Nokia E71x was designed for business minded users and this was not lost in its messaging features. The QWERTY keyboard provides an excellent method of input for messages. MMS and SMS messaging was a breeze as network support was great and fast. An Oz instant messaging application enables the phone to communicate with mobile email services from Yahoo, AOL and MSN. Chat with your friends online with the E71x’s friendly user interface that makes you feel like you’re infront of your PC.
Multimedia experience was better than average and is a welcome addition to an otherwise boring business phone. The multimedia feature was second only to N series phones from Nokia. Multimedia functions were significantly better than older E71’s. Menus and functions were quicker to access from the menu and a short navigation made them available. Music quality was great and music tracks were easy to access. Viewing experience was smooth, a little twitching was required as videos must be converted to fit the phones 320 x 240 QVGA display.
Nokia’s mini map Web Browser was good delivering a smooth surfing experience. Loading times were minimal and navigation was easy with the phones 4-way button. Second only to the iPhones Safari browser the phones HTML browser provided clear and clean webpage display.
The Nokia E71x comes with a 3 megapixel camera which provides decent images. Picture quality leaves much to be desired as more was expected from a 3 megapixel shooter. Autofocus if present was visibly not present on the pictures captured.
The Phone supports GPS and appears to do a good job with this. A Nokia Maps application comes standard with the phone. Other GPS applications such as those from AT&T which were more user friendly could also be uploaded. The phones GPS function was on the money as it followed every corner made and was accurate with every location.
The nokia has a rated talk time of 5 hours and standby time of 2 weeks. Tests showed better than rated talk times of 8 hours with continued use. Overall impression of the phone was impressive. The Nokia E71x was designed for business communications and delivered on its promise. Multimedia features are robust but seemed lacking only in comparisson to Nokia’s N series phones

The Samsung Behold sports superb multimedia functions and one of the best touchscreens in Samsung’s lineup. The phone comes with a 5 Megapixel camera and is 3G ready. The phones main drawback is its lack of WiFi capability which leaves many disappointed. The Behold more than makes it up however with its lightning fast and smooth surfing experience.
With the introduction of the iPhone cellphone makers have been trying to emulate the iPhones success with its touchscreen technology. The Samsung Behold is one of the maker’s best when it comes to touchscreen technology. The Samsung Behold touchscreen was one of the most responsive in their lineup. Feedback and key input through the screen was also accurate.
The Samsung behold is features loaded. It boasts of a 5 Megapixel Camera and great multimedia functions. Listening and navigating through the phones music player was easy. Synchronizing with your PC’s music tracks was easy and transferring your favorites to the phone was a breeze.
The phone comes standard with a 1GB which could easily store hundreds of your favorite music tracks and loads of images. The phones memory further expands to accommodate an 8 GB memory card and exponentially increases storage area.
One area the Samsung Behold comes short is its 240 x 400 display. It scores low in comparison to the iPhones screen resolution. Downloading and playing videos on the phone also presents a problem. Converting your videos to a lower resolution is essential to maximize viewing pleasure. The phone comes with video streaming capability but viewing pixilated displays certainly dampers viewing experience.
The Samsung Behold comes with one of the highest camera resolutions in the market. On paper the 5 Megapixel camera could easily shame an average digital camera. Results however was luck luster as images were not better off by a mile from other 3 Megapixel camera phones available.
The Behold closely resembles its Samsung siblings. Its candy bar design is now familiar with Samsung owners. The phone makes full use of the phones available front panel and supports a 3 inch display. The phones face is not cluttered with buttons a welcome addition that makes it friendlier. Navigating the phone is done by a simple click of the phone and menus and icons are easily available.
The Samsung Behold also comes standard with the new TouchWiz user interface. This allows their owners an extra touch of customization and makes access of the phone features easy. Phone applications like the music player, clock, web browser, calendar, and Bluetooth are clearly displayed in the phones screen and can be launched quickly with a tap of a finger. The 3 inch display makes the QWERTY keyboard ample room and gives good spacing between keys. Keyboard layout is great with symbols and letters clearly displayed.
The Samsung Behold promises to be a good substitute to the ever popular iPhone. It also proves to be a cheaper alternative and with solid features to back it the Behold has been growing in popularity with Samsung owners.
